Who is Laurie Ann?

I was bitten by the baking bug some 40 years ago after my Aunt Shelby made these amazing butter cookies called “Russian Tea Cakes”. Instantly I fell in love and started making them, first for my family until eventually I was baking for friends around the holidays. One day, while thumbing through a catalog, I ran across the “Bacardi Rum” cake recipe. Intrigued, I started making that one, too. For some years I continued this way, baking for my loved ones, adding a recipe or two along the way. Eventually, I started taping episodes from the Food Network. I just wanted to bake more and more!

I had been a hairstylist by trade but had a secret love and passion for baking. Without even recognizing the transition, I slowly started baking more than I was booking appointments for my salon clients. Soon, I wanted to do nothing more than bake. Finally, I retired from my salon and am now pursuing my dream. I stepped out on faith and named my business, “Laurie Ann’s Sweetie Pies and Treats.” Now, we’re growing at an incredible rate and more people know me for my sweet treats than for my ability to style hair–which is just fine by me! The next step is a dessert truck and then maybe even my very own brick and mortar. I’m believing for MORE!
